No more vacations in Goa?
Goa has always been a tourist attraction, the nature, the simplicity, the beaches and almost no pollution is its uniqueness. But soon it will all be gone!
As per reports government has planned to start three projects in ecologically sensitive areas of Bhagwan Mahavir Century and Mollem National Park (the pride of goa). These are largest protected area of Goa cause of the high variety of plants and animal species.
Development of four lane highway, a power transmission and a railway line all of which will pass through this wildlife century. This planning includes cutting down between 60 to 80 thousand trees and disturbing the wildlife. All of this is happening without the knowledge of people, central government claims that they have passed this plan after the state government permission during lockdown.
No assessment took place for the project, some of the committee member is denying to give any approval of the same but minutes of the meetings says a completely different story.
The project is only taking place for the help of big corporates, so that they can transport their coal and use Murmogao port more easily.
The development is at a price. If coal import and transportation will take place in the city the dust of coal will travel for almost 20 kms around it. Delhi is already facing the issue of pollution which can’t be undone. Is Government ready to see Goa in worst of situation worsted than that of Delhi? Are people ready to collect coal dust day and night from their living room.
This is dangerous for tourism, fishing culture, wildlife and people of Goa.
